So goes many a conversation between parent and toddler. It seems everything you tell them either falls on deaf ears or goes in one ear and out the other. But that’s not how it works. Toddlers listen, they just store the information for later use, a new study finds.

“I went into this study expecting a completely different set of findings,” said psychology professor Yuko Munakata at the University of Colorado at Boulder. “There is a lot of work in the field of cognitive development that focuses on how kids are basically little versions of adults trying to do the same things adults do, but they’re just not as good at it yet. What we show here is they are doing something completely different.”

My wife almost gave birth in the back of the car on the way to hospital today. We only just made it and she had our second daughter Anouk Lily on the floor of the emergency ward. She is less than a minute old here.

It was unknown that to get by and/or because of a personal interest in the subject, Shuster then did S&M porn for under-the-counter booklets called “Nights of Horror,” sold in Times Square in the early fifties.

So I saw the love of my life today, the one who got away, for the first time in ten years, despite driving past his house every day (it’s on the way to work, really!).

He was standing on a corner in town and I was walking towards him with my son. I recognised him right away.

We saw each other for a couple of years (after knowing each other from teen days), 15 yrs ago, but he was ‘just not that into me’. I faced facts and very reluctantly threw him back. But I had it bigtime for him.

So I am walking towards him today, my little heart banging madly away in my chest, trying to make chat with my son, so I can pretend I hadn’t seen him, all the time waiting for him to break into that wide smile, charm oozing. I reached him, then passed him, nothing.

He didn’t recognize me.
